Artist Statement
After studying at the West Sussex College of Art Glenn spent 25 years as a commercial artist and illustrator. In 2002 he directed his career towards his first love – fine art and specifically portraiture.
Glenn's work reflects his commercial background with a strong modern graphic feel producing an engaging image that will last as a work of art long after the likeness to the subject has faded.
Glenn won a Highly Commended award at the prestigious National Open Art Competition for his painting of Antonia.
The commissioning process:
If you are interested in commissioning Glenn for a portrait please click on the link above or below.
The first step is for us to arrange for Glenn to meet you for a photo shoot at a mutually convenient time and location. Depending on the sort of backdrop you would like, Glenn is happy to meet you at many locations ranging from the beach to Box Hill. You will spend an hour or two with him taking pictures.
Glenn then goes through all the photographs to work out which ones would translate best into paintings. It is important to remember that this will not necessarily be the one with the most beautiful smile but he will find a selection of those that will make the most interesting/arresting paintings. During this stage he will use computer graphics to create ‘mock ups’ of different styles to gauge which works best with a particular picture.
Once Glenn has a shortlist he will e-mail you these illustrations for your approval and will advise you of the appropriate lead time. If you are working towards a birthday or anniversary deadline the sooner we know about this date the better.
Glenn will then paint your portrait(s). These are not computer generated but are all hand painted.
