New black and white images available Christmas 2011

Greg has developed these stunning images using a unique layering process that allows him to illustrate visions of nature as fine art - creating a Bee's eye view of the flower. These images are created as an exploration of the inner sanctum of the flower.

Artist Statement

For the last two years Greg has been working to combine the art of photography with the science of photographic technique. Having fine tuned his craft over the last twenty years
he is now developing images using unique layering process that allow him to illustrate visions of nature as fine art - creating a Bee's eye view of the flower.

These images are created as an exploration of the inner sanctum of the flower.
This came about as a fusion of his passion for photography and long standing botanical interests.  Minuscule detail captured from the specimen and liberated onto the printed medium.

Macro photography and the human eye are constrained by respective parameters.  These limit the ability to render detail accurately in the third dimension.  Photography has the constraints of optics - depth of field and limited tonal range.
Our eyes are constrained by the inability to focus at extreme close range.

Each flower demands a different approach. Lighting, composition and creating sharp focus throughout brings the subject into its own special realm.
