Rachel Mortimer - current work
She chooses to use aspects of the human figure in her work as lines and forms which express emotion.
Rachel prefers anonymity in her characters, attempting to capture their essence through form and by relying on suggestion and ambiguity.
Rachel's work is on show within The Art Agency Gallery for the duration if our launch show which runs from 11th October to 10th November 2011.
Rachel's figurative life studies capture the feeling and the mood of her models. She prefers anonymity in the characters, attempting to capture the essence through form and relying on suggestion and ambiguity.
She choose to use aspects of the human figure in her work as lines and forms which express emotion. She likes to use fluid mediums to create a delicate movement in the works. A self taught painter, Rachel uses acrylics on canvas and enjoys drawing with pen and ink, charcoal and pencil. She believes that real inspiration comes from the creative process. The more she works, the more ideas she gets, including exploring new materials and techniques.
She was based in London for 8 years before deciding to see some of the world and has now settled back down on the south coast in Hove.
