Ros Perton - current work
In each piece a small drama is staged.
In 2009 Ros completed her MA, graduating with distinction in Contemporary Crafts, Ceramics, from the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham.
She has since set up a working studio and continues to exhibit and sell her work.
Her work is concerned with celebrating the nature and history of clay, and with questioning the traditional use of materials and the accepted associations of beauty, usefulness and value in ceramic forms.
The forms are thrown on a potter's wheel and altered or added to whilst the clay is still plastic. Ros uses porcelain and coarser clays, exploiting the distinctive textural relationships between material for visual and tactile effect. Juxtapositions of tone, of lines and curves, of spaces and shadows create a dialogue. In each piece a small drama is staged.
