Born in the Seychelles in 1965, Harry Brioche enjoyed a colourful childhood on the island of Mahé before moving to England in 1980. He has lived in Manchester ever since, where he and his wife raised their two children.
Although he briefly attended Maidstone College of Art, Harry considers himself largely self-taught. After being encouraged to conform to the college’s preferred style, he chose instead to follow his own creative path — a decision that led to a successful career in illustration and graphic design before returning fully to painting.
Harry has always been captivated by the drama and beauty of the British landscape. The shifting skies, fleeting weather and atmosphere of England made a deep impression on him after the constant warmth of the Seychelles, and this contrast continues to inform his work today. His paintings are driven by mood and light; he aims not just to depict a place, but to capture its spirit.
Harry exhibits regularly at the Mall Galleries in London through the NEAC, ROI and RBA annual shows, alongside a busy calendar of national and international exhibitions. His original oils are held in private and corporate collections worldwide.
With a dedication to creating emotive, beautifully crafted work, Harry’s paintings have a timeless quality that resonates with collectors and art-lovers alike and we are delighted to have his work in our Cobham gallery.
