Wendy's art works are sculpture like but on board and in some instances can protrude up to 20cm. She generally uses one full pair of old jeans as the base and then goes on to fill them with further old clothing to give them their shape. She always keeps a visual nod to the previous life span of the materials she is using and it often results in the zips, belt-loops and pockets of the jeans left visible within the body of the work.
The decoration of each Vogue Lips piece is created with ONLY 1 issue of Vogue to display the fashion and culture of a particular moment in time. Every completed artwork comes with the remainder of the magazine.
“I think it’s important for people to know the journey and where the materials originated from, the process is as important as the visuals.”
Since introducing Wendy's work to the gallery her Vogue Lips have been incredibly popular and sold out quickly. She has created four new pieces for us and they are available now in the gallery or to click and buy via the website.
