Painting for Samantha is about experimentation and ‘happy accidents’. She is not so concerned with the exact representation of an image but rather how the paint reacts on the canvas and the effect produced.
" I always say about my paintings that ‘paint’ is ultimately the theme. Flowers are a just a reference and what I use as a tool to extract colours, textures and emotions.
I like to embrace a ‘childlike’ quality in my work. There are no rules in painting in my opinion"
Samantha was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1988. A creative person from a young age, she discovered her love of painting during her final year of studying Art and Design at The University of Leeds. Since graduating she has continued to paint and develop her own unique style.
